It's easy for a PC gamer to say all games should be on PC, but the consoles are more available. They are cheaper and more convenient, and appeal to casual gamers. I think there will always be a market for at least some form of console gaming (played on your TV). One could hope for consolidation, as it's not like Sony or Microsoft have anything to lose from a computer/console hybrid, but as long as separate companies can make a profit, I find it hard to believe that they will come out with a true all-in-one system for some time.
Also I imagine the next generation consoles will essentially be computers that plug in to your TV. I'm sure they will have web browsing, as well as many other advanced features and programs (Kinect, for instance) that will allow them to do much more than the consoles of today.
